"In April, 2014, I stated in an article I wrote in the Maryland Gazette that if I ran for office again, county residents should have an opportunity to review my medical records, as well as all relevant trial testimony, and make their own judgements about alleged misconduct regarding a medical necessity.
I stated that pertinent information was not offered as rebuttal evidence because my defense councel did not believe a crime had been committed. That commitment still stands. Any voter wishing to see this rebuttal evidence is welcome ot contact me.
In February and July of 2010, I had two major spinal fusion surgeries and suffered excruciating pain during the course of my reelection campaign. There were instances during this time when security officers performed campaign tasks on my behalf. It was not the best judgmenet on my part to accept what I thought was compassionate assistance. I deeply regret the impact of my misjudgments on the people of Anne Arundel Country. I have learned from my mistakes and know they will not reoccur."
